7/11/2020 Minister of Justice: Employing the use of electronic means in implementing rehabilitation and training programs for alternative punishments

His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, issued a decision to use electronic means and applications remotely in the implementation of rehabilitation and training programs for those sentenced to alternative punishment.

According to the decision, the entity implementing rehabilitation and remote training programs using one of the electronic means or applications must take into account that the content of the rehabilitation and training programs is broadcasted in high quality and clear through the electronic system or application, and through it the presence of the convicts must be proven, and that the system is Or the electronic application from among one of the systems or applications approved by the Judgment Enforcement Department at the Ministry of Interior, in a way that enables it to achieve supervision and control of implementation.

The Minister of Justice's decision stated that without prejudice to the provisions of Resolution No. (36) of 2018 regarding specifying rehabilitation and training programs for those sentenced to alternative penalties and the procedures for their implementation; The implementing agency is responsible for organizing remote program delivery procedures, taking into account the prior coordination with the Judgment Execution Department at the Ministry of Interior to determine the appropriate work and control mechanism before adopting the electronic system or application in the implementation of the remote qualification and training program, as well as in the implementation phase to verify the commitment of the convicts to attend the program Remotely and the extent of their discipline, informing convicts undergoing rehabilitation and training programs of the dates and times of remote lectures, and providing the Judgment Enforcement Department at the Ministry of Interior with the required periodic reports that show the extent of the convicted person’s commitment to implementation.
