6/2/2021 A coordination meeting between justice, the Supreme Council for Women, and the Supreme Judicial Council discusses strengthening mediation in family matters

A remote meeting was held between His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Professor Hala Al-Ansari, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, and Judge Masouma Abdel Rasoul, Deputy of the Court of Cassation, in the context of joint cooperation between those parties, where he presented The Supreme Council for Women is a visual presentation based on the state’s endeavors and its continuous keenness to develop the justice system procedures related to women, and to ensure that more measures are taken to raise the levels of family stability in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to improve the services provided in this regard.
The meeting discussed, in particular, the development of litigation procedures before the Sharia courts and the enforcement court, the issue of child custody and vision, and the work of the family reconciliation office, in the context of the electronic transformation in which family services are provided through its platforms and thinking about areas and opportunities for their diversification and the sustainability of their access. The presentation of the Supreme Council for Women also focused on the hoped-for repercussions of any proposed development on the competitiveness of the Kingdom of Bahrain in international reports and various forums.
During the meeting, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa affirmed the keenness of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments to cooperate with the Supreme Council for Women in order to continue taking decisions and legal measures in support of family and women's issues and services targeting women of all age groups and social situations, including strengthening the role of family counseling and reconciliation Mediation as alternative means is successful in settling family disputes, as well as working towards providing mechanisms that are more capable of dealing with family problems and accommodating their requirements.
His Excellency said that the success of the joint cooperation between the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Supreme Council for Women in providing most of these services remotely in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the pandemic, facilitating procedures before litigants and ensuring their continued access to justice, is a model to be followed, and it proves the extent of the flexibility and development of the judicial system in Bahrain.
For her part, Judge Masouma Abdel Rasoul emphasized the importance of the role of the Court of Cassation in establishing legal principles, correcting judgments issued in family cases and monitoring the proper application of family law in a way that achieves justice and family stability, referring in this regard to the role of the Supreme Judicial Council and its keenness to evaluate the performance of judges in law enforcement.
