3/11/2021 A joint meeting to present the requirements for implementing initiatives to enhance criminal justice procedures

Counselor Abdullah bin Hassan Al Buainain, President of the Court of Cassation and Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al Buainain, Attorney General, and His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and in the presence of a number of judges, members of the Public Prosecution and Ministry officials, held a joint meeting, to present Requirements for implementing initiatives to enhance criminal justice procedures.

During the meeting, the joint work plan between the judiciary and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments was reviewed and discussed. What it included is the development of the electronic criminal system for the criminal courts and the Public Prosecution, which aims at a complete transition to digital in all judicial procedures, so that the electronic link between the investigation procedures taken by the Public Prosecution when the case is referred to the courts, and then the orders and judgments issued by the courts are linked to the system Criminal execution by the Public Prosecution and the Punishment Execution Judge, which would facilitate access to justice.

This system, which is being put into practice, contributes to saving a lot of effort and time for judges, members of the Public Prosecution and the supporting administrative bodies. Through the electronic systems that are being developed and subsequently in achieving prompt criminal justice, all within the framework of fair trial guarantees.

The development of the unified electronic system for international judicial cooperation, which provides a common system for following up on procedures and requests for judicial cooperation and international legal assistance with the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution and the Ministry, was also discussed, and the advantages of that unified system that ensures follow-up of procedures for implementing requests for assistance related to extradition of accused and convicted persons, asset recovery and implementation International legal representations and rulings and the exchange of information, and this unified system comes in response to the requirements of effective judicial cooperation and in implementation of the observations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which urges finding the best means to ensure compliance with the implementation of international judicial assistance requests and the preservation of information related to them, which ensures accuracy and speed of completion and empowering authorities Effective international criminal prosecution in accordance with the requirements of international conventions.
