30/3/2022 Bahrain and Saudi Arabia review strengthening judicial and judicial cooperation

Counselor Abdullah bin Hassan Al Buainain, Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation, Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al Buainain, Attorney General, and His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, held a joint meeting, with His Excellency Dr. Walid bin Muhammad Al Samaani, Minister of Justice and President The Supreme Judicial Council of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During the meeting, which was attended by a number of Ministry of Justice officials, judges and members of the Public Prosecution, the visit of His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Justice and his accompanying delegation was welcomed, which comes within the framework of a joint and continuous endeavor to enhance judicial and judicial cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and exchange experiences in the field of Legislative developments related to litigation and judicial services, based on the historical brotherly relations that unite the two brotherly countries and the firm aspiration towards enhancing prospects for cooperation in the judicial and judicial fields and mutual knowledge of the most prominent development and modernization projects.

A number of development projects witnessed by the justice system in the Kingdom of Bahrain were reviewed, most notably the implementation of restorative justice for children and protecting them from abuse in a manner that takes into account the priority of the best interests of the child in all judgments, decisions and procedures related to him, and experimenting with penalties and alternative measures aimed at enhancing opportunities for rehabilitation of the convicts and their social reintegration. The adoption of criminal mediation on the basis of the principle of mutual consent, and the application of the case management system, which is concerned with preparing the case and preparing it for pleading before the courts within specified dates, as well as the most prominent features of the new civil and commercial execution system.

The strategic initiatives on enhancing access to justice 2021-2025 were also reviewed, which included seven axes aimed at enhancing access to justice in a more comprehensive and broader concept, translating what was included in the economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030. The private sector, serving the public, increasing the ability to predict judgments, developing judicial procedures and digital courts, developing the practice of the legal profession, strengthening criminal justice procedures, and developing an environment for family and child protection.

The meeting reviewed the applications of electronic transformation in the justice sector, through which the procedures before the courts were completed, to be an integrated system fully available electronically, starting from filing the case until the stage of implementing judicial rulings, taking into account the availability of all constitutional and legal guarantees for a fair trial.

After that, the Saudi Minister of Justice toured the restorative justice courts, during which he was briefed on the progress of their work and procedures, and the role of experts in the social and psychological fields before the Children's Correctional Justice Courts and the Judicial Committee for Childhood.
