His Excellency Mr. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al-Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, received the members of the State Council on the Funds of Minors and Those Like them, which was formed by Eng. Ibrahim Hassan Al-Hawaj, Mr. Reda Abdullah Faraj, Mr. Jassim Ahmed Al-Mahaza, Mr. Abdul-Jalil Ali Al-Hayiki, and Engineer Manaf Youssef Hamza. and Mr. Mohammed Sheikh Ahmed Al-Asfoor, Eng. Naji Sabt Salem Sabt, and Mr. Ali Hassan Khazali.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Justice expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for their tireless efforts in carrying out the tasks of the Council and their success in achieving many development initiatives, in support of the supreme goal of preserving and caring for the interests of minors, developing their money, and diversifying the investment basket to serve Bahraini minors and those in their judgment.
His Excellency the Minister noted the historical role of the State Council over the funds of minors and those in their jurisdiction, which is one of the oldest councils formed in the Kingdom since 1938, and one of the landmarks of the modern state, which received great care and attention from the honorable Al Khalifa rulers, up to the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Great Country, may God protect and protect him, under the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, based on what the minors represent of a high degree of importance in society.
During the meeting, the Council reviewed the most prominent results of its work, foremost of which was the keenness to develop the services provided by the Department of Minors’ Affairs and Funds, in terms of reducing procedures to keep pace with the steady increase in the number of inheritances and cases that the Council handles, as the total number of files that the Department opened during a session The current session (2020-2022) is a total of (2,019) files, compared to (1,047) files that were opened during the previous session (2018-2020), an increase of (93%).
The Council also sought to strengthen the partnership with the private sector and benefit from its capabilities and expertise, in a way that contributes to the promotion of diversified investments, raising the value of capital in the long term, and increasing income by distributing profits to the accounts of minors that the Council is responsible for.
On the other hand, the audited financial reports during the current session showed positive results, as the Board issued a decision to distribute profits to the accounts of minor heirs and the like at 4.41% for the year 2021, an increase compared to the year 2020 with a dividend of 4%.
In the interest of the State Council for the funds of minors and those of similar status to hand over the funds to adulthood, the administration has delivered more than 24 million dinars to more than 5,000 adults who have updated their data and completed the required documents.
