10/3/2020 The Minister of Justice issues a decision to increase community service work to accommodate more than 920 individuals in applying alternative penalties

His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, issued a decision to increase community service work for those sentenced to alternative penalties, with the participation of the private sector and civil society institutions, as well as the public sector.

According to the new decision on the list of employers in community service and the types of work practiced in them, the number of jobs has reached 139 types, bringing the capacity to more than 920 individuals.

This comes within the framework of expanding the scope of application of alternative punishments for convicts with the aim of rehabilitating convicts and reintegrating them into society through punitive and corrective measures, and in a manner that contributes to strengthening social responsibility, in light of Law No. 18 of 2017 regarding alternative penalties and measures.

According to the law on penalties and alternative measures, the bodies and types of work in community service for alternative penalties are determined by a decision of the Minister of Justice.
