2/17/2020 Inaugurating the Labor Laws Department in the Labor Market Regulatory Authority

The Labor Market Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, opened today the labor case offices in the Authority’s branch in Al-Buhair, Riffa, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and Mr. Osama bin Abdullah Al-Absi, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority. The opening of labor lawsuit offices at the authority comes in implementation of the esteemed government directives to facilitate procedures and increase coordination between government agencies, as it is part of the government's strategic work program to speed up cases.

The Labor Laws Department provides its services at the authority’s branch in Al Buhair and the Migrant Workers Protection and Support Center in the Northern Sahla region, and it consists in coordinating the preparation of the claims file on behalf of workers and supporting it with the data available in the authority’s migrant workers management system and entering it into the Ministry of Justice’s system.

His Excellency the Minister of Justice affirmed that the opening of the Labor Lawsuits Registration Office at the Labor Market Regulatory Authority will contribute to facilitating the labor dispute registration service. His Excellency said that this step paves the way for combining a number of legal services related to labor cases within one point through this office, which will enhance the The effectiveness of judicial procedures and raising the efficiency of performance.

His Excellency the Minister of Justice appreciated the efforts of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority to equip the Labor Cases Registration Office at both the administrative and technical levels.

For his part, the Executive President of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority praised the keenness of His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments for his presence in the opening of the Labor Cases Department, indicating that this indicates the level of His Excellency’s keenness to support coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and government agencies in everything that serves the Kingdom.

Al-Absi pointed out that the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments authorized the Labor Market Regulatory Authority to receive workers, receive their claims, provide them with the required data, draft a list of labor lawsuits, and enter them into the system of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Labor Laws Administration) on behalf of the Ministry, and give the worker evidence of receiving his claim and the hearing date. He pointed out that the opening of labor case offices is expected to accelerate litigation and adjudication of labor cases and reduce pressure on the courts.

It is noteworthy that the Labor Laws Department at the Labor Market Regulatory Authority will operate in the authority’s branch in Al Buhair area in Riffa and the Migrant Workers Protection and Support Center in the northern Sahla region, five days a week from Sunday to Thursday and from 8 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon.
