12/2/2020 “justice” and the Public Prosecution hold a workshop on “Procedures for Identifying Victims of Trafficking in Persons”

The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and the Public Prosecution, in cooperation with the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, based on the Kingdom's continuing efforts to promote human rights, organized a workshop on (procedures for identifying victims of trafficking crimes), with the participation of a number of Ministry of Justice employees.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Ali Abbas Al-Shuwaikh, Chief Prosecutor and member of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, which focused on defining the crime of human trafficking, its elements, the concept of a human trafficking victim, the means of identifying it, the procedures that must be followed to protect it, as well as the guarantees established for the victim in the Bahraini legislation.

This workshop comes within the framework of working to enhance the efficiency of law enforcement personnel, and support the initiatives launched by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat trafficking in persons and care for its victims, and among these initiatives is the National Referral System, which aims to strengthen measures to combat trafficking in persons, and clarify and regulate the role of various entities and their mechanisms of dealing with Any situation of trafficking or it is suspected that it could turn into a state of trafficking.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Bahrain achieved, for the second year in a row, the first category in the report of the US State Department related to the classification of countries in the field of combating trafficking in persons, as the only country in the Middle East and West Africa that occupies this rank for achieving international legislative and application requirements, so that Bahrain continues to maintain its international position in the field of Combating trafficking in persons, which it deservedly deserved as a result of the development of its legal and institutional structure that strengthens the work environment and employment protection.
