20/01/2026 Bahrain chairs first 2026 meeting of GCC justice ministries’ international cooperation officials

As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council for 2026, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf chaired the first meeting of officials from international cooperation and international relations departments at GCC ministries of justice for 2026, held in Saudi Arabia.

 

The meeting was chaired by Counsellor Dr. Mohammed Mujbil, Assistant Undersecretary for State Litigation and International Cooperation, and attended by Mohammed Jamal Sultan, Director of the Legislative Affairs and International Cooperation Directorate, representing Bahrain’s Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, alongside representatives of international cooperation departments from GCC justice ministries.

 

Discussions covered a number of agenda items, including Bahrain’s proposal on electronic linkage for judicial notifications and service of process, Oman’s proposal on a policy to enhance cooperation among GCC justice ministries, and a draft of unified rules to combat cybercrime.

 

The meeting addressed mechanisms to develop joint work, strengthen institutional cooperation, and enhance coordination among international cooperation departments across GCC member states.
